Help! My dog has been sleeping in my bed with me and my fiancé for a few months now. I know this is our faults because we let her sleep on the bed when she was a puppy (even though I said NO)... now she won't sleep anywhere else and at first it was ok, but now she is BIG! Anyone have any tips to help me get a good night sleep without my dog hogging the bed?

kick it off the bed and don't let it back on. be firm not a push over, unless the dog owns you and not you own the dog.

It's hard to change the habit of a dog, but you can modify her habits by being consistent with her. Tell her no and push her out of bed when she jumps up. Send her to her bed. If you consistently enforce this, you dog will get used to the new rules, and will eventually like sleeping in her own bed.

I've tried this and it works.

I have a dog too. I used to sleep with her when she was a puppy, and ur right, it does take up a lot of space. Just move her to a kennel, she won't like it at first. She will whine and maybe bark, but you need to ignore it. If you let her come sleep with you when she whines, shell do it over and over. Then if you dont like the kennel idea, then get her an igloo. thats what my dog has, and they love it. Igloos are very cozy n all. Good luck!

I had the comparable subject with my cocker spaniel...what you're able to be able to desire to do is placed them a doggie mattress outdoors your mattress room and use a gate so as that they are able to't jump over and go away the mattress room door open..the 1st couple nights would be although yet they ultimately become bored of crying and fall asleep the secret's to no longer tutor them any interest on a similar time as they are crying.. you will possibly no longer get any sleep the 1st evening in spite of if it gets greater effective plus the gate is see via..they are going to understand you're good there..in simple terms no longer on your mattress...as quickly as they get used to slumbering on their own mattress then you extremely can convey it into your mattress room and enable them to sleep on the facet of your mattress.I seen that on that's me or the canines tutor..that's how thetrainerr did it..i attempted it with my cocker spaniel and it labored..

I have two dogs, a large one and a small one. We have taught both that if they sleep on our bed, they sleep at the foot only. Takes a little while to teach but can be done and pretty nifty in the winter for foot warmers too!!

you said it , you created this "bed" now lay in it? best thing is to create pup on the first day in your home so he knows that is his place. it becomes his "den" and if never used as punishment, he will love it. toys treats big pillow. it can still be done now but be prepared for 3 nights of whining. and you must not give in or else. when he whines you turn on the light open the create take him outside to pee only and no talking cept to say pee pee outside then when you put him back to the create you say "bed!" firmly light off no fuss no muss. same routine every night will take 2-3 nights. also best place to nap while home alone.

Gave my dog her own bed and now she only sleeps on her bed. Not an option all the time though.

buy her , her own bed and make her sleep there , out of the room if she won't sleep in it with her in the same room

its going to take patience but don't give up, it can be done

Can you really blame the dog? I would too if I were him, maybe its your fault he's sleeping in your bed.
