There's a professional massage therapist (not a masseuse!) in our town and he has private relationships with his clients (=he sleeps with some of his elderly clients). He says they pay him and he gives them what they want. He doesn't seem to think that there is anything wrong with that. He's working for a chiropractor who has a good reputation in our town. The chiro. might not know about that "therapists" "other business".
How do you feel about that and what would you do?

When you answer please keep in mind that I am talking about someone who is working in the professional medical field just like a medical doctor. You'd see him to get PROFESSIONAL MEDICAL help.
If you'd see your doctor - you wouldn't expect your doctor coming on to you, making (non-medical) remarks about your skin and body, would you?!?

That is so wrong, but it will catch up to him. It's too bad people like him ruin the reputation of massage therapists. I hope the chiropractor isn't billing insurance for his "other business" if he is doing that at the office (which is why some insurance companies are so against covering massages because of the reputation of massage therapists).

It can be very rewarding. I have had clients in signficant pain and with debilitating mobility problems show dramatic improvement as a direct result of my massage. Our society is so high-tech now that the ability to interact on a very personal level is a a refreshing experience. Giving a massage is also great exercise. Edit: To the person above that said not much education was required, they need to look at the course requirements for graduating from a massage therapy school and passing the boards. It is much more demanding than she apparently knows.

Umm.... if he's getting paid, and he's not in Las Vegas, it's against the law. He could lose his license. If it's a consensual relationship, with no payment, he could still lose his license. Some states have huge stipulations for therapists -- banning them from marrying clients - even after a certain number of years... (stupid but true).

As a friend I'd inform him he's really crossing a line. He might want to pursue a sexual therapist degree -- he wouldn't be able to have sex with his clients, but he'd be able to help them find the path to sexual pleasure legitimately.

I could not feel a thing, unless I were there of course....
Make sure legislature requires medical certification to prevent the spread of disease.......... don't be jealous it is a wanted service and needed enough for people to be willing to pay for.
It really isn't my business morally each to their own ... as a safety issue let's not confuse it with ones own ineptitude and lack of understanding that is par for the course just look at your children dying to the tune of ignorant government....

It is very unethical, I'm not sure what the Chiropractor would do with this information. How do you know he isn't servicing his clients too?

He has crossed the line from massage therapist to prostitute. He'll be lucky not to have his license revoked.

I think it's at least wrong for him to do so and then blab his mouth to anyone. I'd probably keep my nose out of it though unless he tried to seduce me, in which case I would of course tell the doctor and probably mention a possible lawsuit.

In this case, Alice is a dude.
