Jesus, for the most part, according to the Gospels, is a non-violent individual. It would totally be out of character for him to order me to stab anyone, especially my neighbor.

Yes..... As a Christian I must be obedient and through this obedience I know that the Lord would work out that scenerio for good. Just as Abraham took his son Isaac to be sacraficed he had faith in God. God then provided the sacrafice and it wasn't Isaac. Things are not always as they seem and when you trust in the Lord all things work towards good.

I'd be like "Uhh...Lord, before I do this for you... can you officially scratch from the 10 Commandment thing, the part that says "Thou shall not kill"..... I just don't want anyone to through that in my face afterwards?"

Well, God asked Abraham to kill his first born, so...sure. I'm not even related to them.
I mean, it's clear that God thought Abraham was doing the right thing by obeying. Though it sure was nice of God to spare the kid.
