Every lady uses her fingers when she cooks -- and tries not to break a nail! Ok, really, 'lady fingers' are a fancy cookie that is often used in or with other desserts. Mmmm!

Lady Fingers (called Savoiardi in Italian, meaning "from Savoy") are light, sweet, sponge cakes roughly shaped like a rather large, fat finger. They are not to be confused with the Lady's Finger, another name for the vegetable okra. Most commonly used in Tiramisu, where they are soaked with strong espresso or liquor and topped with cream.

Lady fingers are a pastry like desert. They have a vanilla like flavor and a light airy texture. They look like little Twinkies but are all connected together in the package like hot dog buns. They can usually be found in the deli or bakery section but are getting harder to come by.

Ladies' fingers are an alternative name for okra, probably because the pods are smooth, slender and finger-sized.
