I was just wondering if anyone had ever been to or stayed at a hostel in Kauai and what it was like?

Kauai has two main hostels, and they are both in a city called Kapa'a. The two hostels are nothing to write home about, but one is definitaly better than the other. The hostels are called "Kauai International hostel" and "Kauai Beachhouse: (links below) Depending on your nature, you might also consider camping. Not only is it cheap there (3 dollars a day), it is also incredible. The beaches where you can legally camp are among the most beutiful places in all of Hawaii. The two main beach parks for camping on the northshore (the pretty part of Kauai) are called "Anini" and "Haena". You can get permits in Lihue and Kapa'a or (less recommended) just camp there the first night. When the ranger comes in the morning - he will come - you can pay him 5 dollars instead of the three dollars, and he can tell you the nearest place to get week long permits. I also suggest twizi.com for any Hawaii hostel or budget planning.
