Here's an interesting story about that......
There were actually two votes on the matter.
In the first vote tha republicans overwhelming approved the fence.
On the second vote which was for the funding, the bill didn't pass.
But the republicans can thump their chests on the campaign trail about how they voted for the fence that even they realized was a stupid answer to the problem.

Something has to be done to stem the flow of illegals into this country. We know that many of them cross the border from Mexico to invade us. Putting up a fence will, at the very least, serve as an impedement, and will greatly reduce the amount of illegals entering. However, Border Security also needs to be beefed up in order to catch those that are entering. A fence alone will not do, but it will at least help.

all you young Americans are thinking right, you looking out for your future. We need a president that will take care of this problem. Building just a fence wont do it , a more drastic means must be used. We should let them know if they cross the border they could lose their lives. No we dont have to help mexico creat a better standard of living who helped America when we fought for our freedom from the British?All countries around world the depend on America they havent learned to stand on their own two feet.Its time for america to start saying "No" I invite you to

I like the idea of the fence, as long as they can stop dicking around about it and get the damn thing built! By the time they finally get on with it, how many more millions will have slipped on in? Just even TALKING about building it has to be instigating even more to decide to hurry on in quick, before the fence gets built!!

The thing is that there is more than one way to get on the other side of a wall. people can make holes climb over or just go around it. I would think its a waste of money more than anything else.

We currently spend 45 Billion PER year supporting illegals from a new study from Rice University. A humongous fence is well worth the money.

Best idea ever. Stop them from coming in and we'll see a decrease in crime and more jobs for young people--the ones all the Mexicans are taking now. Can't wait!!! Will I still have to :"press 1 for English"???? Sure hope not. How absurd.

Either Waste Money if No one stands guard to secure the boaders or not at all if the government is seirus about illegal immigration
