no problemo. this is pretty typical reaction to severe stress - which you are no doubt under :) stress brings on anxiety attacks - i get em myself when i have a big show coming up. chest pain, hurts to breath, feel like you cant sit up straight, etc. that sound about right? if so, the thing to do is lie down, put a pillow over your face, take a deep breath and let it out through your mouth to a slow 10 - count. do this about 4 times....that will help with the tightness in your chest and the breathing issues. wont help at all with your wife, unfortunately:( but there is hope even there - so don't give up! drop me a line if you like - i listen to a lot of peoples probs - sometimes i even help ;) you still might see a doctor...sometimes a temporary medication helps even you out so you can think rationally. good luck.

Your chest pain could be the result of your anxiety and stress, or there could be other underlying factors. Some questions for you to write down and answer, and take to your local Emergency room, Urgent care clinic or family physician: 1)What side of your chest hurts? Left or right?, 2) Does your pain radiate to your arms? 3)Have you experienced cold sweats, nausea, vomiting, shortness of breath, dizziness, lightheadedness? 4) Do you have high blood pressure or diabetes or heart condition? 5) Does anyone in your immediate family have high blood pressure, diabetes or history of heart attack or heart disease?. This is just a start. In my profession, it is protocol to have your chest pains evaluated immediately if not sooner.

It may just be extreme emotional stress but get it checked nevertheless. Going to a Doctor can't harm you surely and if everything is alright then at least you stop being anxious about this health situation and can think rationally about the crisis at your personal front.

Yes, please go to the doctor. My g/f's father had chest pains and ignored them thinking it was just "gas". He ended up getting quadruple + 1 bypass surgery. A year later, he's very healthy and going strong.
So yes, be safe and check it out. Stress CAN trigger things like this ofcourse.

Even though you're young it could have been a heart attack or something else that is medically dangerous. You could have had a panic attack. I'm sorry you went through this and I hope you recover yourself quickly.

Theoretically, yeah, it could cause physical pain. It wouldn't hurt to have it checked out.

You should go to the doctor immediately. You may have already a heart attack without knowing it.
