Regardless of whether or not you credit the photographer or organization for whom the photos belong to, it is still not your right to utilize their photos for your own purposes without their written and signed consent. On the other hand if you took the photos of the sports players yourself, then it is your property and you can display them however you want.

If you took the photos, it would be fine. but if you didn't, that would be a copyright infringement, unless you have explicit written permission from the photographer. Some sites might have photos that you can buy the rights to.
