Many pet stores sell animal clothes for cats and dogs but I'm looking for a burlap or kevlar lined sweater and knit hat for my cat.

Basically, my neighborhood has a problem with airgun snipers.
They tend to fire .177 (4.5 mm ) lead airgun pellets like this one

...at cats, birds and squirrels. I believe the velocity they are fired at is below 1250 Feet per second. Basically it only takes a velocity of 400 FPS to penetrate cat skin but, if the cat is wounded, it lingers and dies.
Voelocities upwards of 600 FPS are required to penetrate the skull of a cat in the event of a head shot, so that is why i'm looking for the kevlar lined knit cap too.

Where can I find these things?
It bothers me that my cat will be going out the house with more armor than your typical US SOLDIER.

You may have to have this stuff custom made. GET the materials and take them to a sweatshop to do it cheapest.

why don't you talk to your neighbors insted of makeing your cat VERY uncomfortable? if you can show people how much pain and suffering these kids(?) are causing then there parents might do something. and I understand you being worried about your cat, but your cat doesn't understand the danger and would hate having a sweater on. so talk to your neghbors. I really don't know where you could get the sweater but you might try E-bay.

Better idea.

Keep your cat inside. It's not safe to let it just roam around outside. Besides what you are worried about, there are too many other dangers out there.

You should probably keep your cat indoors until the sick bastard of a sniper gets caught

If you are so worried keep her in! Please! And if whoever is shooting animals gets caught they will go to jail. Start a neighborhood watch for those bastards and catch em in the act.
