i usually am the one to call. he calls occasionally, but says he is worried to call me because i might be busy at my job. so, i left a VM for him saying, 'i am not going to call you anymore. this is how i feel. i have nothing else to say. bye.' how might he interpret this? ok, so i called him back today and left another VM apoligizing for being a bit rude and immature. i said 'we are both going through a difficult time, it was rude of me to take my anger out on you. call me back if you want to talk about this.' he didn't call me back yet. we are both going through difficult separations from our spouses. did i do the right thing? i talked to him today and he said that the message made him upset, but then he was in the middle of work and said he had to go and that he would call me back, but he did not. is he crazy? or am i? or both?

If you are both going through separations and are already sad or stressed your first message probably was just more than he wanted to deal with. You should lay off calling for a while maybe a week at least, then you might give a friendly call but don't push the issue of talking about your little spat unless he brings it up. You already apologized, and it bet that he does not want controversy with yet another woman if he's already getting it from the woman he's separated from. Also I wonder why you can't do some of your talking outside work hours. If your relationship is one where you haven't exchanged personal phone numbers it could be that he isn't ready for a new involvment. Can you email him your cell or home # and just tell him to call if he wants to talk sometime?

I'd stop calling him and see if he calls you. Maybe he needs more space than you do. I know how insane it can be to want to call so bad!!!! but you can't but try to hold strong. I'd wait maybe 3 or 4 days. Maybe he's going thru something and it's got him bugged and he doesn't want to talk. Just give him space for now.
