Since I keep seeing questions about bare breasts in public, I have one? Why the moral outrage about a woman breastfeeding im public? Is this religion based, going back to puritan roots? Why tell someone to "go do that in the restroom?" do these people eat in the bathroom? Why should my daughter have to?

I've noticed that the bathing suits women wear on the beach cover less of the breast than my baby's mouth and head do, so it can't be that I'm showing too much. I don't like to use a blanket over my breast (and her head)because the only time that I know of when you put a blanket over someone's face in public is when they're dead. ugh, it's creepy. And I don't have a car, we take the bus.

So sorry to hear that. But if you find it offensive, look for "baby rooms" where you can breast feed your baby in private and away from these insensitive people.

Some people seem to think that their young kids are going to be traumatized or turn into nymphomaniacs if they see part of a breast. Men will stare but what else is new? We'll always be enamored of breasts. You should start a petition for public breast feeding stations. Really though, I don't see the harm, it's a natural process, people in general are too modest.
Edit: Notice how many thumbs up you get when you say something in support of more bare breasts in public? Haha, I wonder why....

I think that a mother breastfeeding her child is not only the way nature intended but it is beautiful. I breastfed my daughter and the bond we have is incredible. I see no reason why you should have to feel ashamed to do so in public. The baby has to eat and it is not like breastfeeding is unnatural or no one ever did it before. Some people are just too hung up on ignorance. If they don't want to see it then they should not look at it.

Use a burp cloth or something to cover up. The last part makes me believe you just want people to watch you or see your boobs.
You can use a thin blanket and cover up.
You hurt your own cause when you have NO modesty. I don't believe you need to go to the bathroom, but that doesn't mean my 13 year old needs to see your naked breast. If you pulled it out and showed it to him you would be arrested on indecesy charges.
So, have some modesty and cover up.

First of all, breasts are private, therefore should be bare IN PRIVATE. I'm sorry that I would not care to see another woman's breasts, whether she is feeding a baby or dancin' on a pole. Here's a quote that goes with this topic:
"The right to swing my fist ends where the other man's nose begins."
---Oliver Wendell Holmes, Jr.
Your right to expose your breast ends where my sight begins. You are arguing your right to feed your baby where you wish. I am arguing my right to NOT see your breast. This argument could continue forever. You could say, "Well, don't look then." Then I'd say, "Well, how am I supposed to know you are breast-feeding until I look over and see a breast... feeding a baby?" The debate continues.
I would say though, it is pretty much common courtesy to keep your breast covered in public places. I do believe that more public facilities should have private sitting areas especially for mothers, which would include changing tables, comfy chairs, and maybe some toys for toddlers.
I'm not trying to be harsh here, I'm just saying, think of other people also. I understand that your baby needs to be fed, but be considerate of your surroundings.

Some people in general are just too uptight. They feel they have to force their warped values on people, much like the way christians do.
They look at nudity as something to be ashamed of and feared, you know an infant feeding will bring on a sexual frency.....
The basis of religion is that attacking and changing peoples spiritual beliefs is the beginning to an occupation or invasion. A means of controlling the masses.

Honestly, I always felt uncomfortable feeding my babies in public, even though I was always very careful to keep things covered. I would rather suffer underneath a blanket on a hot day than publicly expose myself. I support the right of any woman to feed her baby at any time and any location. It is common courtesy, however, to try to keep it as discreet as possible.
No woman should be asked to feed her baby in the bathroom.

"Is this religion based, going back to puritan roots?"
Yes. Women should have the right to feed their children anywhere they need to, it's just a natural life function. It's not the childs fault that people from certain unnamed religons are sexually repressed and can't be mature about something as simple as a baby being fed.

They just want to blame someone else for them being unable to control their stiffies, if you ask me.
I agree. Why on earth should a woman not be able to breastfeed her child in public? I admit, on the first few occasions when I saw it, I felt a bit uncomfortable, but that was MY failing. It is the most natural and tender thing in the world. Why should we lock it up in a stall that smells of bleach and urine instead of letting it happen out in the sun?
And to maybe_I'm_right08: Are you seriously pitting the right to feed a baby against the right to be sheltered from the ghastly sight of a breast? Sorry, but GET OVER IT. It's a BREAST. I don't want to read your foolishness, so please don't type anymore, okay? I mean, you could say "so just don't read it," but how will I know it's foolishness unless I've already read it?

I went to the pet store to see if I could find a bra for my dog and they laughed! I have no problem with bare breasts but it seems that the only women who want to do that are of child bearing age. Most of the women my age (53) wouldn't dream of doing that in public except maybe at the nudie beach.

the first time i saw a woman breastfeeding in public she whipped it out right in front of me and stuck her kid on there. i was a little shocked at first but i got over it in like 3 seconds. i was helping her buy some things at my job and after a momentary hesitation we went on as though nothing happened.
it's a natural thing. there's nothing lewd or obscene about it. most mothers try to cover themselves somewhat. but if people don't want to see a woman's breast or if they find breastfeeding repulsive then don't look. it's a pretty simple solution.
