I am a really good singer. I was told this by an actual country singer. Then again, I want to be a pop/ rock singer... I have great stage presence. I have blonde hair and blue eyes, I am skinny and tall. If that has anything to do with it...

People don't get discovered. That is naive at best.

Artists work.

And work and work and work.

Anytime you hear of a "new talent" or someone "newly discovered" has a career spanning 10 years already.

Get training, work hard and be ready when opportunity knocks.

No one single event will get you "discovered". You build up your reputation and career in a series of baby steps.

If someone offered you a record deal tommorrow, could you take it?

Can you read music yet? Can you sing to accompaniment? Can you sing with other people, harmonize, sing duets? Do you have a repetoire of your own songs? Can you name the session musicians you admire and who can play the insturments you want to sing to? Do you know if you are a soprano or a messo soprano? Can you maximize your studio time to cost your record company the least amount of money? Do you expect the record company to do all of this work for you, hand you a list of songs and make sure you get vocal training?

Do you have enough financial education to know if you are being ripped off by your manager and/or record company? Do you have other skills to fall back on if you don't sell enough records and have to pay back some or all of the money the record company paid you in advance( you don't get to keep that money, they take it out of your record sales)

These are all things that you can work on while you are waiting to get that big break. If you don't think you need to do the work, pick one artist that you believe was just "discovered" and research that person. You'll find out that they did a lot more than you think they did before you had any idea who they were. :)

I'm not trying to poop on your dream, just let you know that it takes work. One of my friends has about 6-7 albumns and tours across North America and Europe. She wasn't discovered and has no deals with a record company, she just went out and made her records anyways. She is a self-published folk artist who had to work very hard to get where she is. This process has taken her about 15 years from when she started. In her gendre of music, she known, but mainstream radio stations don't play her stuff.

Good luck and have fun. Life happens in the journey, not at the destination.

There is really no garruntee way to get discovered, unfortunately. But your best bet would be to get a good agent, and definitely practice singing as much as you can, to further your talent. Just know that although you may or may not have the talent, sometimes your style of music just isn't one that will sell at the time. Learn to be a flexible singer, who can voice many different genres of music, not just pop/rock.

Of course how you look matters in the preforming world. ALWAYS look presentable, who knwos when you might stumble across someone that could change your life. Also, take as many jobs as you can. Even if you want to be a singer, look into taking jobs at a local theatere company, working backstage or helping out. All of those things look great on your resime.

Besides that, just be comfident! A great attitude and a great voice will get you discovered .. it takes time!

No, your being skinny and tall has nothing to do with anything other than genetics. You need to audition, get into school plays (musicals), community theater, take voice lessons to learn technique, join or start a band, get an agent, get professionally done recordings of your voice and know the right people int he recording industry. And YOU don't decide if you have "great stage presence," dear, an agent and an audience does. I don't know WHO this "actual country singer" was, but you have MILES and MILES to go before you can expect to hit it big, if then. And if this "actual country singer" is so great, why not just ask him (or her)? Rhetorical. Good luck!

hard work, I say depending on your age, the first thing before getting discovered it perfect your talent and abilities, singing lessons and then actual singing experience once you have that perfected then you can go down the discovery path- if you get to the right people before you have perfected your talent and you bomb out you might not get a second chane.

Once perfected find someone that will record you singing with a band some of your best tunes then make as many disc as you can and get them to music promoters

that is one way to do it!!

"its all about the connections"

You should start performing in the city where you live, so people can get to know your work.
