People are in some deep trouble there while the world sits and watches. Souldn't we be doing something?

they are too tied up dealing with the crap in the Middle East. no one really cares about Africa...unfortunately....

The UN has been contributing in terms of aid (money and food). They wish to participate further and have been asked to take over from the weakened African Union but the government in Sudan does not want a UN presence in their country. They have stated that it is a ploy (of sorts) to convert the Sudanese into a western style state, which apparently they are strongly opposed to. There have been some ultimatums concerning AU pull-out regardless of UN substitution. The US, for all its misgivings in this situation, have been the highest monetary contribute to the Sudanese and refugees.
Of course, this is not the only spot in Africa... Take the much devastated and forgotten DRC people...

The UN is incapable of having or executing any proactive policy.
It is only when the cowboy policeman decides to do something and puts its pressure on that anything moves.
Don't expect that in Africa. People just don't seem to care.

the UN won't do anything anywhere, they have become a useless organization spouting resolutions they never intend to enforce and blaming the US for all things wrong.......

Subject has been under fire for awhile now
People won't help until its too late then complain
Because there was no help, there are other countries besides america
