I dont want to offend people. But i never understood why people who have a strong religious believe always get mad at things like harry potter and gays for one example? I was confirmed in the catholic church, had a strong faith, but slowly it is declining, and I have never got upset with things that may not agree with the bible, but I dont understand why die hard believers have to voice there anger. They give there religion a bad name, and arent really following the bible. I also have a lot of gay friends, and it is sick to see people get so upset over that topic. It is not the person's choice to be gay. And even if it is why fuss over it? God created them. He also created love. So if you have a problem with them, then you have a problem with god, and also if people mingle with there life and marriage, then what does that make you? You are stopping 2 people from showing there love. Would god approve? But if you dont like something why act up and make a fuss? I dont when i disapprove

The reason i bring this up is because in my college English class we had to read Harry Potter. And There is a big debate about how people think that he is satanic and J.K Rowling did this to make people made. But what they did not know is that J.K. Rowling wrote this when she was at an all time low in her life. She also made sure to incorporate hidden messages in the reading. For example, motivation, persistence, teamwork, working hard pays off, good vs evil, how to use your mind, as well as bringing up a dying language like latin. It just bugs me that people get so caught up in there beliefs, they dont see the whole picture and they see just what they want. Ignorance

So, you never make a fuss when you disapprove of something. You mean to tell me your just so passive that when something upsets you or you find something offensive you always keep a cool head. I find that really hard to believe, sometimes you gotta shake things up in order to get order. God created man and woman, sin created homosexuality. If we lived in a world of no sin, a perfect world, then there would be no gays, sickness, birth defects, etc, etc. I'm awful tired of non-Christians telling me I don't have any right to voice my opinions, get angry, or anything any other human may do. I have every right and will exercise that right whenever I can. I do follow the bible and I assume nothing, I base my opinions on Gods laws and what his word says. This is my belief and I will practice it and shout it from the mountain tops and may God have mercy on all our souls.

I do agree with you, that some people with strong religious backgrounds hate on a lot of things. But that's exactly why, because they're religious. Religion and God are NOT the same thing. Religion is what blinds people from seeing who God really is. Religion is nothing but rules and regulations and legalism saying you're going to hell if you drink, have sex, smoke, do drugs, blah blah blah. Religion says you're going to hell if you sin, which is ridiculous because EVERYONE has sin, it's in our nature. That's the point in Jesus, hello? As far as Harry Potter goes, I personally don't go for it because it's the opposite of God. It's about withcraft and sorcery. That's kind of uh, the devils territory, even if it is masked by children in a school making it seem okay. The gay thing? No offense to anyone, really, but it just isn't natural. That's not the way God intended it to be. It's a perversion of what God intended. I do think though, that it is absolutely wrong for ANYONE on this earth who disagrees with it to look down upon those who are gay, to persecute them, to speak bad things against them, to judge them. No one has any right to judge another person, even if they disagree with it, even if they think it isn't right, even if they don't like it. You're absolutely right.

People only get upset about these things when it is crammed down their throat that they need to accept this as acceptable normal behavior. As far as the gay issue goes, I do not feel gay people are worse sinners than gluttons or gossips or anybody else. I should clarify this and say people who PRACTICE a gay lifestyle. We are all under the same punishment --death. I do believe that homosexuality is disordered behavior though, and I do not think for a minute that God made them that way. Disorder is not from God.

well , me personally...I wouldnt get mad if the state recognized a gay marriage..because I know that God does not support such a mockery of His creation of man and woman. I mean...it takes as much common sense as a 3 year old putting two peices of a puzzle together!...

I have a strong Christian faith and I have many brothers and sisters from my church who do also. None of them act in the manner you describe. All of us know that God loves sinners and all we want to do is to tell them about Jesus and hopefully welcome them into the family. As to things like "Harry Potter" the common attitude is that anyone who wants to watch those movies or read those books has a resonsibility to let their children know what the Bible says about things like magic but once having done that they can enjoy it just like they can enjoy pretending that there is a Santa Claus or an Easter bunny. The only restriction is to not do those things around Christians who are weak in the faith just like Paul cautioned the Corinthians about when it came to eating meat sacrificed to an idol.
1 Corinthians 8:4 Therefore, as to the eating of food offered to idols, we know that "an idol has no real existence," and that "there is no God but one." 5 For although there may be so-called gods in heaven or on earth--as indeed there are many "gods" and many "lords"-- 6 yet for us there is one God, the Father, from whom are all things and for whom we exist, and one Lord, Jesus Christ, through whom are all things and through whom we exist. 7 However, not all possess this knowledge. But some, through former association with idols, eat food as really offered to an idol, and their conscience, being weak, is defiled. 8 Food will not commend us to God. We are no worse off if we do not eat, and no better off if we do. 9 But take care that this right of yours does not somehow become a stumbling block to the weak. 10 For if anyone sees you who have knowledge eating in an idol's temple, will he not be encouraged, if his conscience is weak, to eat food offered to idols? 11 And so by your knowledge this weak person is destroyed, the brother for whom Christ died.
Maybe it's different among the Catholics to whom you were exposed. I don't want to bash any person who claims the name of Christ but I will say that some of the doctrines of the Catholic church are legalistic instead of grace oriented like the teaching that salvation is based upon faith plus works.
Ephesians 2:8 For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, 9 not a result of works, so that no one may boast.
Romans 1:17 For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith for faith, as it is written, "The righteous shall live by faith."
