60% of mine was there. One didn't come home except under his country's flag. I just wanted to know if anyone else wants to share their experience and who can understand the sleepless nights crying for the one who didn't come back like I do for my Brother (Brother in Law but BROTHER to me). My Father came home sick and no one knows why only that his lungs are damaged and my only sister who came home to people questioning how could she go there.. She cries.. takes medication to sleep and suffers from severe nightmares..... The Military can't give enough help although they try.... They just don't know what to say or what to do.

I am so sorry for you loss. My son served in Iraq twice and Afghanistan once. I do understand the sleepless nights and the fear and worry. I will say a prayer for both your father and sister and please tell them for me that I am PROUD to be one of the people that they are there to protect and PROUD of them. God bless all of you and this great nation. Tell your sister that to people that ask that stupid question that a good response is "because I love my country and all its people".

My daughter went in with the invasion and stayed in country for 15 months. Every night I hated to hear the news because every time I heard of more Americans being killed, I couldn't sleep until we heard back from her. I am just thankful that she was able to come home whole and healthy. My heartfelt condolences on your families loss. Maybe your sister could get a referral to a Post Traumatic Stress councilor. They can do wonderful work.

my son is there, and my heart goes out to you in this time of loss.

whilst you might think I am being flippant with this comment I actually DO know how it feels for someone to not come home, years ago my finance's did not return home from the troubles in NI and as I was not yet his wife [also think the era as well] I was not even allowed to be notified...his parents also refused to allow me to attend the funeral, if it had not been for his fellow members that came and told me and got me to be there as the plane landed so I could say my goodbyes I would never have been able to say my last farewell to him..so yes I do know what you are feeling at the moment and the only thing I can say is that it does get a little easier...............here's hoping that both your father and sister get well in mind body and spirit very soon.

My son is there now but will be coming home next month. In my city, I think almost everyone is related to or personally knows someone who is deployed. My heart goes out to you and your family. I too have had to face many days fearing for my son's safety. Even though he is nearing the end of his deployment, I know I will not be able to relax until he is safely in another country outside of Iraq.

I am so sorry for your loss. My bf is in Iraq now and will return in about 6 weeks after his year long deployment. My cousin just went back to Iraq about 1 month ago and this will be his third time.

I have one currently in Iraq, and two who have been there. I'm sorry for your loss of your brother and the difficult times for your father and sister.

The Veterans Administration is full of people who will do all within their power to help. I encourage you to contact them at your state level.

I feel for your family. Good luck. I do not have any family there. But my husband joined the Navy and it's tough. He's not at sea yet, but I know it's going to get even harder. I salute the soldier that didn't come back and the ones that did and are still out there. They are out there for all of us.

One cousin has been there twice, two just got back and don't want to return, and two more are in the service but have not been to Iraq.
