Yes, they are programmed, and to say they order "uncautiously" is putting it mildly. They're positively reckless.

Fast food must be ordered and consumed quickly. Thats the idea. I think you are right - people don't look before they jump and order. Its such a sad state in the US how we overeat and have so many people overweight now, when other countries have nothing to eat (I know, because I have travelled and seen it with my own eyes). US is way more fortunate than they will ever know, as they do not travel to those other countries and SEE it. (But Clinton was talking about it tonight on the news as well, which was good to hear).

Micky - D's a #3 without onions and great sized please. If i'm quite hungry then i will order a fish fillet sandwich too. At KFC i like the three piece mixed meal yet I replace the cole slaw (reason cole slaw is disgusting) for mac and cheese. At Arby's i will take the great Montana with an apple turnover and a extensive drink. those 3 are the only rapid foodstuff places I generally consume out at as I generally bypass to take a seat eating places. like the single I linked to, under.

In the hectic western lifestyle, a lot of people don't have time to cook so fast food is their solution. most of the time, people already know what they want when they get to the window so that may be another reason why you think people are programmed to do so.

'traditional' family things are now different. we drive up, because we are both working 10 hour a day jobs, and we get to that window, starving ... and just start ordering. it fills our bellies for awhile and then we do it all over again at breakfast.
