My boyfriend has developed a skin problem. He scratches at his inner thigh a lot...and that area looked like the skin had hardened (or does people call that scaling of the skin?). When I asked, he said it's because of friction from his underwear and it feels especially uncomfortable when he sweats. I think it must be real itchy...cause I saw some cuts. He must have scratched till it bled. It breaks my heart to see it like this. Does anyone has any idea what it is? Oh...he's 19, loves sports ( plays it a few times a week, pretty active guy). Please help....I dunno what I can do or what he should do. I've asked him to apply vaseline...

It is not an STD...cause he never had sex. And this is his first relationship.

A lot of men suffer from this, it is not an std. Go buy some gold bond powder and tell him to use it every day This will help alot . However if it is really irritated use a very good diaper rash ointment for a few days. Please don't listen to others try to convince you that he has an std. I have been married 22 years, have three brothers,a father and 6 brotherinlaws. We have had this problem several times in our family.

Get him some cortisone cream to put on at night and corn starch for prevention. I have heard of this before. That when men sweat and there thighs rub it chaffs. Poor guy. Hope this is helpful.

I think the slang word is called crotch rot.

I just read the other answers and I agree with sissystinson answer that gold bond powder should help but still try the cortisone cream at night or even neosporin for scrapes and burns to help heal it. Its just friction burn not a STD.

sound like jock itch. There's creams available for it. he could go the doctor too.

Tell him to shower and dry off after sports. but if he's got it already, he needs to treat it.

He probably has jock itch....it's a fungal skin infection that can easily be treated by keeping the area clean and dry and applying a antibacterial cream.

Simply crotch rot, or in milder terms, jock itch, which could also involve a yeast infection.
A visit to a dermatologist is in order.

Fungus.

Go to Wal-Mart. Buy the cheap Wal-Mart brand anti-fungal cream. Use it as directed and put a bandage on it so he stops scratching for goodness sakes.

Keep it dry. DRY. Baby powder works well to keep things drier down there.
