Start reading newspapers, magazines, etc., for articles that interest you. Then the next time there's gap in conversation, you can open a conversation about something you read, or saw on the news, etc. Say your coworkers are all into American Idol, or some such show... watch an espisode, and then ask them questions about it. It'll get you talking *and* others talking. Sometimes... you just have to give yourself a push to break the ice. Things like this can help.

The way to be more talkative is to become a better listener. When you really listen to others, you pick up on cues as to what subjects really interest them. Read up then on some of the topics that you find interesting and you'll soon find yourself wanting to add your input to the conversations. Also, in just regular "what did you do over the weekend?" types of conversations, if you are really listening to what others have to say you'll find yourself so involved that you won't even stop to think before you start tossing in your own narratives.
