Hick ups come from an irritation of the phrenic nerve causing the irregular spasm of the diaphragm.

Same reason grown ups do. If they have hiccups a lot, it can have something to do with acid reflux. If they spit up more than normal along with the hiccups, then they should be checked for GERD.

It usually happens when they drink too fast and / or do not get burped half-way through the feeding .

maybe cuz they're cold...that's the only reason my baby brother gets hiccups but babies r different .who knows.
