I call mine a scarf. The entire modest dress is called hijab, and some people use this word to also refer to just the scarf, but in English, it is called a scarf, just the same as is worn by conservative Jewish and Christian women.

it is call HIJAB...and burkha (sometimes spelled 'burqa) is head cover..but hijab is more like hair cover.
