I found the name on a baby name site, and have decided to name my daughter this, but I'm not 100% sure how it is pronounced in Italian. I don't know if it is CARE-a or CAR-a, or some other pronounciation I haven't thought of yet. Help me out, please and thank you!

it is pronounced with an hard "c", like "k". "A" is pronounced as in car, both times. And remember that the italian "R" can hardly be properly pronounced by any English speaker ... so be sure that her name will be mispronounced all her life...however, even pronounced with an american r, it sounds cute...

However, remember also that "cara", in Spanish means "face". Considered the high number of Spanish speakers in the US, are you sure you want them to believe that you named your daughter "face"?

I believe it is pronounced as though the C is a CH (like cello is pronounced "chello").

One problem - if you can't pronounce it how is that poor kid going to go through life with a name that no one she meets can correctly pronounce? Why not pick one that will not annoy her for all of her life?

"car-ah", with car pronounced like the car u drive is pretty close, but the fact is that the "r" in italian is stronger than in english, so unless you want to keep your american accent you should try to pronounce it rolling your tongue...
