What works as well as Diazinon Concentrate? The Triazide that they sell in its place does not kill as well. I used Diazinon outdoors to keep ants and spiders out of my home. I would use Dursban if I could find it (improper use I know). Malathion is too weak to use. And Sevin is a dust that I can't use. The ants and black widows are real bad because Triazide is not as potent. What is available on the market that will work?

I have already done what I can to my home to keep pests down, the reason for my need for a pesticide that will work. Vegetation is already pruned, and integrated pest management will not work in this situation. I do have extensive knowledge of Vector Control, which is a public health version of pest control. If you know of biological control that will attack Black Widows (Latrodectus mactans), and foraging ants that enter the home, I am all ears. Chalcide wasps attack flies, and B.t. attacks moths, butterflies, flies and mosquitoes. I do not like killing 4-6 Black Widows a day manually because there are too many of them. Triazide does not kill arachnids and mildly effective on insects.

Also, Pyrethrin based pesticides only kill on contact and are not long lasting. This means that in my situation, I need to apply on a weekly or bi-weekly basis, and I have to search for black widows, and drench them. Black Widows are very resistant to pesticides and need something much stronger than Triazide.

I have decided not to use Methyl Bromide. I will just do what I have been doing and not apply as specified on the label and protect myself. That seems to work. I just apply more frequently.

You really have to find out what type of ants you have. Certain ants are attracted to sugary baits, others are not, which may be why your ants are out of control. You want to prevent the ants and spiders from entering your house. I would suggest find out what type of ants you have then choose a bait to put around the perimeter of your home.

Remove all of the plant materials touching the house. Any plant material touching the house serves as a way ants can get into your house.

As far as the spiders, remove any webs from the house, this will help keep them away. Chemical like Demon or Cynoff will work, but remove any egg sacks you find, this will ultimately reduce the number of spiders around the house.

For the inside of your home, get a dust (boric acid) and dust all cracks and crevices, behind switch plates, and under sinks, etc. These are places bugs like to hang out (for the moisture). You may also want to fill cracks and crevices with caulk so bugs can't get in that way.

With any product you put down, you always want to make sure you put down the amount the label recommends, otherwise you will not get the results you are looking for.

And PS... I do love chemicals, I feel they can be necessary at times!

Deltamethrin (Bonide sells it as Delta Eight) or resmethrin. I would and have used the Delta Eight as a perimeter treatment.
