My cat is 6 months old and I'm so curious if anyone else has a cat that meow and whines when he plays with a particular toy. Only that toy makes him act that way...there is NO catnip in it. It's the strangest thing, he doesn't look happy or upset but just walks around the house meowing and whining.

This is just part of thier predatory side. Cats are very vocal animals and they use different sounds...as well as movements...to display thier moods. When hunting cats tend to make these noises, and to them playing with that toy is hunting. He is actually very happy when he does this. It's a way of acting out, he is showing off his predatory skills, not only to you, but also to his "prey"...lol.

I don't know about whining, but my kiten makes a trilling noise when he's playing with his favorite toys- also not catnip toys, but the ones that he likes the best. I think it's just their way of showing happiness- people have lots of different ways of showing their contentement, and I think cats do too!

i've got constantly had cats and dogs and there are lots of of motives i've got enjoyed them and quite a number of memories i'd desire to tell. the two I actual have now are such thoroughly distinctive characters! The previous boy, Bell (sixteen) likes to pass out and pass to people, and likewise accompanies the dogs on her morning and evening walks. If he sees yet another dogs he runs below Willow's legs for defense! The youthful female cat Kia (4) is quite tiny and nonetheless kittenish in looks, incredibly beautiful yet no longer a very friendly cat. She would not like being picked up yet while she needs interest she'll leap on your lap and insist it! She regulations the others and easily thinks she is the 'Queen' of all she surveys! She on no account is going out yet likes to take a seat down on the windowsill and watch each and every thing! She likes to sleep curled up on the dogs decrease back, on an identical time as the male lies together with his head on the dogs nostril, regularly on the fringe of our mattress. between 2 cats purring and the dogs and hubby noisily snoring that's a ask your self I ever get to sleep!

My fat cat does the same thing. As soon as I get home he starts whining and playing and whining some more. I think it's just his way of telling me I've been gone for too long and he'd like some love.

He might want you to play with him, my cat walks around at night and has strange meows as well. Cats do get stir crazy in houses. I try to take my cat outside sometimes, when the weather is decent.
I guess it helps.

I have had two different cats that did this, too. They were both females and I attributed it to the mother thing. They were both adopted and lived on the streets a good year before I got them. Who knew what they went throiugh there. I've never heard of a male doing this, though. Maybve it's the father thing version. LOL Harmless albeit occassionally annoying.

He's enjoying himself. I had a cat just like that, she would do the exact same thing with a plastic cap off a water bottle & growl at anything that came near her & her beloved toy. The other cats would just look at her like she was nuts.

That's very instinctual prey behavior for a cat. We get upset when we see a cat toying with a mouse or bird before he kills it and/or eats it.

When he has a favorite toy he uses for this outlet we find it cute and charming. My Amber "kills" her special mousies every day and buries them behind the couch.

it is totally normal for your cat to behave that way...he is just being playful at times. my cat had this toy for the last 8 years and it is the only toy that he plays with. whenever he feels like it he will bring it to my feet. drop it and expect me to play with him. love your pet for life!!
