Well it is made of whole cloth, and very thin!

Hah! The better analogy is to Galileo and the Copernican model of the solar system.

The problem that Evolution has is that people like you think that science hasn't been able to do the equivalent of what Galileo did by constructing a high quality telescope and making detailed observations. You somehow think that Galileo was able to make a simple demonstration that anyone could understand, and that Evolution has failed to produce any simple demonstration.

But do you realize that all Galileo did was to show the moons of Jupiter? How did that prove that the Earth revolves around the Sun? To put it quite simply, it didn't. It was just one more piece of evidence that the Ptolemaic model was wrong. It took a great advancement of mathematics by Kepler and then Newton's laws of gravity and motion before the model of the solar system became accurate. The vast majority of people who now accept the modern understanding of the solar system don't have the math background to understand the work of Kepler and Newton. They don't have the observational skills to use telescopes to make measurements to confirm the motions of the planets predicted Kepler and Newton. Yet all of these people accept the description anyway, and many even think we've somehow "seen" the structure of the solar system from a vantage point outside the solar system.

In another hundred years, Evolution will be accepted the same way. Most people then will look at the detailed tree of life (see link below), and the thousands of examples of evolution like those shown in the citations below and think that Evolution is obvious.

The only reason it will take 100 years is because so many peope like you are afraid that Evolution disproves your concept of God.

No, evolution is a science, it isn't something that comes and goes as a fad. Yes, I clearly see the evidence. First off, I would like to end the most common misconception about evolution: humans did not come from monkeys. A long time ago, there were no humans or monkeys. There was another species. Some of this species evolved into monkeys. Some evolved into humans. This is why 98% of our DNA can be found in primates. Out of all other species on earth, we bare the closest resemblence to monkeys. The fact is that Genesis contradicts science and itself too much in order to be taken as a literal account of creation. It's either false, or largely allegorical. I don't see why Christian Fundamentalism hears evolution, and automatically thinks atheism or agnosticism. The largest religious body in the world, the Roman Catholic Church, accepts evolution, and Genesis as allegorical. Some Jews accept evolution. Some Hindus accept evolution. Evolution doesn't take God out of the picture, it's just God's taking advantage of science.

i think the evidence is pretty compeling; but i agree that it's guarded like a religious doctrine. i think we should be open to scientific discovery and advancement, and evolution has yet to be proven absolutely - there are still a lot of gaps that may or may not be filled over time.

and the fact that creationism is being brought up as if that were the one and only alternative goes to show you how religiously people adhere to this theory.

Listen to the Evolution 101 Podcast at www.drzach.net to learn about the evidence for evolution and the reason why most scientists accept it as proven fact.

Or visit www.talkorigins.org for written information on the same topic.

I think creationism is more so- a far better analogy. A 2000 year old book told me it was as compared to 2 weavers told me to. There is no evidence for creationism and no evidence for the emperor's clothes. See?

It's emperor, not emporer. But of course, anyone who has trouble with basic spelling would definitely have trouble coping with more complex scientific principles.

No. Evolution has a lot going for it. I am not convinced, yet. But I do not deny its validity.

PS- Most Christians are evolutionists, too.

Time for a make-over.

Contrary to popular opinion by evolutionists, many well qualified scientists disagree with Darwins theory. The question is, why do evolutionists not allow these scientists to speak in public forums?
