It would be rare to see her in heat (able to get pregnant) before 5-6 months old. Are you sure about age? 2-3 months would fit esaily in one hand still, and weigh 2-3 pounds. Licking the hind end (if it's more often than regular grooming) could be itch from worms, or a urinary tract infection. Mention it at your vet visit.

She is not old enough to get pregnant yet. A cat typically goes into heat around 6-9 months, some do as early as 5, but most of the time it's 6, at least it was that way with the 3 cats I had get pregnant all at the same time because they were just strays we were feeding and wasn't expecting them to go into heat that soon. They vet will not fix them until they are four months old. But you should go ahead and start talking to them about that. If the cat is larger, they will sometimes do it sooner. If the tomcat is a stray, then call the shelter, he can become an issue even if she is fixed. They never seem to realize they are fixed if they are female. They can be vicious. We had a tomcat kill our female who was fixed because he was trying to mate with her anyway. I loved that cat too...:-(. As far as her licking her hind end, cat's do that a lot anyway. It's called bathing...lol. Watch their actions though, if the cat seems to follow her around sniffering her end a lot, and always laying around her no matter where she goes, it's a possibility she may be doing it early. Also cats in heat will typically "call" for a mate. If she is making this weird loud drawn out MEOOOW, then she might be. Best bet would be to take her to the vet. Hope this helps.

I agree with others who said that she may have worms and that is causing the licking and that five months is the earliest I have heard for a female kitten to go into heat.

So talk to the vet about her spaying surgery and get that done as soon as you can. Many clinics sponsored by humane societies will do the surgery at three or four months. The younger she is the easier the surgery will be for her. Not that she will "suffer" if it's done when she is older, it's just that the young ones bounce back from surgery so fast.

You have about two months left to get this done. Don't let some stupid vet to get you to wait till she is six months old. In two months we will be starting the very hectic holiday season with company at the house, gifts to shop for, parties, etc. You won't have time to take care of this then so do it ASAP.

If she is licking and acting affectionate she's most likely in heat. The Tom is a good indication as well! Cats can be spayed at 2mo. / 2 pounds. She should not be in heat when spayed and there's generally only a 2-3 week window before she goes into heat again. Every time she goes into heat her chance of developing cancer, etc. increases. Please get her spayed. She and the overpopulation of cats will thank you! There should be low cost spay programs available.

No she can't get pregnant until she goes into heat which generally doesn't happen until they are at least 6 months old ( although it can happen a bit earlier in the late winter and spring) She will not be receptive unless she is in heat ( ie she will not allow the male to breed her). Cat's are generally spayed when they are 5-6 months although some shelters are doing them much younger for population control. You can tell a cat is in heat if they cry excessively, stick their buts in the air and try desperately to escape and find a boyfriend.

My female cat got pregnant at 4 months before she showed any physical signs of going into heat. We had another little boy kitten in the house, same age. The doctor had to terminate the pregnancy because she was still so tiny. He spayed her afterwards.
2 to 3 months is not too young to have her spayed. Go see your vet.

Get her spayed as soon as possible. What are you going to do with say 6 kittens, and then in another 6 months or less there's another 6 kittens and then the kittens start having kittens. That's a lot of new cats coming into this world from just one little kitty. It is animal cruelty to let his happen. Please be a responsible pet owner. It is our job as human beings.

Yes she can. Keep the boy far away from her! Being around a boy cat can stimilate her into becoming fertile. It sounds like she might be going into heat.
