Boot sector viruses can survive the drive being formatted. If you want to make sure to clear the boot sector you have to debug the drive. Here are instructions:

Sounds to me very strange to have a computer keep getting a virus after reformatting. Have you backed up files to put on the computer that may be infected? Another thing is this too, make sure you have only one anti-virus on your computer as one can confuse the other anti-virus that there is a virus. This is because most anti-virus's have protected files. When the other anti-virus cannot get in it, it has conflicts. Here is an on line site to do an on line check for virus's. Give it a shot and see what they come up with.

Incidentally, did you actually format the hard drive or just reinstall windows? There is a difference you know.

Make sure you format all the drives, and you install a genuine copy of windows that does not contain bugs inside. There are certain kind of viruses that resides inside the RAM..consult an expert on this matter. You can also try to hook up your hard drive on a different computer and get the drives formatted. A piece of advise..after formatting b4 you install woindows...leave your pc powerless for 10 minutes

Low-point formatting isn't some thing you will desire to difficulty your self with until eventually you by possibility wipe thepersistent with a magnet or some thing. you could examine for undesirable sectors via loading up the Command immediate (Run -> "cmd.exe") and typing "chkdsk c:" As for formatting the disk, in case you want to wipe it thoroughly so no you could actually get well your data, you will desire to to attempt a application like DBaN or Acronispersistent cleanser. via the way, it fairly is thoroughly achieveable to format/checkdisk on the comparable device. domicile windows merely won't enable you formatpersistent C simply by fact it incredibly is the place domicile windows is and domicile windows is at the instant loaded. there are processes around this nevertheless like booting to a disc. Even the domicile windows placing up disc has an option to format the drives earlier you positioned in domicile windows (you will desire to theoretically use that to easily format thepersistent and then cancel placing up later on).

Try to re-install the win xp pro or home and use the NTFS file system (instead of older FAT32). It will format the drive and render clean installation of program files.

first turn off your restore on Win Xp then reformat, otherwise it goes to the last saved copy including virus, etc. Also go to NTFS when you reboot, it is a better file system.
