I was pondering this when I was out running this morning and saw a cruiser missing its hubcaps. Who do the police call when they need the police?

"A man stole a Foley police car and eluded arrest for five hours Wednesday before authorities caught up with him three miles from the Alabama-Florida line, capping a chase on Interstate 10 at speeds up to 115 mph, police said.
Donald Todd Hansard, 36, of Gulf Shores was arrested at about 8:15 p.m. at the 63-mile marker on eastbound I-10, said Lt. David White, chief investigator for the Foley Police Department.
Police radio reports said that the stolen car was traveling at speeds of up to 115 mph.
The high-speed, chase began when Loxely police spotted the stolen car headed west on the I-10 Bayway but lost it, Alabama State Trooper spokesman Spencer Collier said. Then Spanish Fort police spotted it heading back east on the Causeway on U.S. 90 to Daphne where it entered I-10 eastbound and State Troopers took over the chase.
It ended about 30 minutes later when the driver's-side front tire blew out and the suspect surrendered without incident, Collier said."

Evidently they call the newsdesk to get a whole lot of publicity.

"LOOK, Ma! I'm in the NEWS!"

The police officer would need to contact his watch commander. The police department would most likely contact local law enforcement agencies in the area as well as the state police. An emergency bulletin may be put up because of the security concerns of having a criminal driving a patrol car. If the patrol car is equipped with a GPS receiver or an MDT that runs the vehicle, tracking its location would become much easier. BTW... the cruiser was probably not missing its hubcaps... for the past few years, the Ford P71 (Police Interceptor) came with a more "stealthy" wheel design which made the vehicle look as though it doesn't have hubcaps.

first he/she will recently call the supervisor. Then yes other departments in the area will be notified.

Also it will make the news.

Besides when officers are making quick turns the hubcaps tend to come off.

Can't resist a little joke here....

What do they do when the police station toilet is stolen?

Usually they'll have nothing to go on!

They call themselves then they have a 30 min. conversation with themselves over the phone trying to keep themselves calm and get the details.
