We're going camping this weekend and I'm trying to get my list together of everything we need to take. So far I've got: the tent, camp chairs, air matress, sleeping bags, we're taking a small grill for cooking, bug spray, cooler (filled with beer!), and a fan for the tent.

Besides food and clothing, what necessities am I forgetting???

I also welcome any tips to make it more fun!

Is it a battery operated fan? If not, then take an extension cord. Take soap, a small broom for cleaning out the dirt from the tent, a first aid kit, something to boil water in to wash dishes (if you don't clean them with hot water, then you could catch a disease from the bacteria), towel, flashlight, firewood (so you can build a campfire), rope for hanging up you trash so animals won't get in it or for hanging things up to dry, there's probably more, but you should be able to get by with what you have.

Well with your description of the items being prught Id assume your going car camping? lol Anyways not knowing the type of campground or location Ill add a few more things also. First, dont forget a flashlight(s) Headlamps work great and last forever,Bring a camera. Taking drunk pics of your friends at camp are the best.. If any of your crew has a guitar or a radio that can make for fun. Bring food beer and a fun attitude and you should be fine. As long as what you bring just as long as your comfortable and safe you should be ok with whatever

lantern or flash lights! matches?

Here is a little campfire game. You will be the only one at first that knows the rule. The point of the game is for everyone else around the campfire to figure out the rule. Hold two sticks (about 6 inches each) in your hand. Now here is the rule: if your legs are crossed, the sticks should also be crossed and you say "crossed". If your legs are not crossed, hold the sticks straight up next to each other, and say "straight". Pass the sticks to the person on the right and have them do either straight or crossed, but don't tell them that it has anything to do with their legs. It keeps going around, and eventually people start getting it. Change the position of your legs so you are not always doing crossed or straight. Drink beer while playing, but the kids (if any) can join in the game (not the beer).

Condiments- Ketchup, mustard, mayo, butter, seasonings, and fresh water are a must. These simple things that most likely ya have at home already...they will add up fast if you need to buy them while your out camping. Old pots and pans for cooking or to simply boil water in so you can clean your dishes. Don't forget the forks, knives, and cooking utensils. Flash lights and batteries. Bug spray, lighter fluid, table cloth, lantern, matches, and TOILET PAPER!! Last but not least..a first aid kit.
Have a great time and most importantly..NEVER EVER store any kind of food in your tent at night time. I promise you will be raided by the masked bandits that we call raccoons. They can tear their way in your tent while your sleeping to get at your food. It is very scary and dangerous when this happens. I speak from experience. Always keep your food/ coolers in your vehicle when your not at your site or when sleeping. Have lots of fun and be safe..don't forget the marsh mellows and chocolate for some camp fire smores!!

well of course like everyone else has said, a flashlight and a gas lantern. card games are great, but make sure you take some rope. youll need it to dry out your wet clothes and get a tarp, you can use the rope and tarp to make a makeshift roof over your table to keep the sun and rain off of it. just tie the corners to 4 trees around your table about 8 feet high. remember to leave one corner lower than the rest for water run-off. a sling-shot is also fun. the biggest killer of camping is boredom, keep that in mind and youll be fine. unless there are no kids going and then you can just relax all day. you definately need 2 citronela candles, get the ones that come in the little tin bucket. there made by OFF brand. put them around your table at night to keep the bugs away. combine the candles with some good bug repellent spray and it will be much more enjoyable. have fun

I would bring a flashlight, maybe some smores for fun, some scary storytelling books if your into that, and some anti-bear pellant. Try a big slab of meat, just chuck it and they'll go away. You can never be too careful. Also bring a GPS if your going far out but if your in a campsite that seems like a pretty good list. Hope you have fun!

Bad weather gear. Tarps, plastic sheeting, personal rain gear and etc. Nothing more miserable than camping and not being prepared for bad weather. Take an axe but a saw is much much better for cutting wood for fire.
