As a matter of fact I'm a sex ED Teacher for middle school and high school. In california every student is required to take the course 2 years at least. We do tell them what kind of partners to choose and stuff but not much elso about the sex styles or anyhting. We teach about STD's and AIDS. Also, we let them have a training fake baby. Like to teach them how to be a parent and they are assigned "Fake Wives or husbands". It is really appropriot the way we teach it! No worries.

I don't think the question is whether schools should or should not educate students about sex. The question should be over HOW schools are treating the subject in school. I think that if teachers are teaching students how to achieve various sexual positions or what kinds of partners they should chose--these are inappropriate sex education curricula. But, if teachers are informing children about STDs, human reproduction, and general health concerns--these things are entirely appropriate.

It isn't about the content (sex or no sex), but about how the issue is presented in an educational context.

Absolutely, it is a matter of public health. A lot of parents are unwilling or unable to adequately teach their children about sex, and a lot of people can end up dangerously ignorant about sex, scared/with psychological problems about sex, or worse, they can end up with serious health problems and society can suffer large-scale epidemics. It is very important that they are taught as much as possible about sex, and if their parents want to teach them why, according to their particular morals or religion, they shouldn't have sex, that's their own business. If you know about sex it will be perfectly clear that the only completely sure way to avoid disease/pregnancy is through abstinence, and they need to teach other methods because abstinence isn't something everyone will do, no matter how hard you try to indoctrinate them.

I don't think schools should teach kids about sex. I think their parents should, but sadly too many parents won't. The kids need to be educate correctly and unfortunately we have allowed our schools to take control of something as parents we should be doing ourselves.
