Well, I usually take Advil. It worked for me when i had braces...I had mine taken off almost 2 years ago though. lol. Oh, and ask your orthodontist if they have "wax" to put on your braces. I know it sounds nasty, but you pinch little pieces of the wax and place them on places where your braces are bothering you and it keeps it from rubbing your gums. I used that stuff a lot, exspecially sense i played a lot of sports. Hope i helped you out.

I am not an orthodontist but I did have braces and based on my personal experience you may want to ask if he/she could put a band instead of a bracket on that tooth. Bands are like thin frames that go right around the perimeter of the tooth.... picture a mini-cookie cutter the exact shape of your molar with your tooth in the middle of it. They don't protrude and serve as an anchor for the wire that is fed around the other brackets.

Ok,,,former braces wearer here....you may think this is crazy. light a candle and let some of the wax form on like a plate, as it cools you can take the wax and then mold it around the bracket, this will help cushion it from rubbing your jaw. other than that take some aleve to help with infection and pain....hope you feel better soon

I have that too, and the only thing that remotely helps is to ask your ortho for oral wax, and at night time place a chunk on eac bracket to protect your cheek... but other than that there really isn't too much you can do.

I had braces before and I had the same problem!! They hurt so bad!!! How long have you had the braces? I used to chew gum and cover the spot where it would rub against my mouth. Eventually, your mouth will get tough and it won't be so bad. Of course it would always hurt when I got them adjusted. I still have the scars inside my mouth where they rubbed, but the pain was soooo worth it!!

i feel your pain, girl. had the exact same prblm. use the wax your ortho should have given you. dont worry though, once you've had them in for while, your teeth (or maybe cheeks) move to adjust and it wont bother you anymore. for now just bare with it and you'll get through fine. hope this helps

Didn't your ortho give you wax to press on the new brackets? If not, you should kick him in the bal_s.

My dentist gave me this clear string shaped material to put between above my braces which stopped the problem. Consult your dentist.
