I've noticed that in classrooms all the way from elementary school to high school to college, people who are assigned to hand out papers often lick their fingers before passing out papers. It's really annoying because it leaves a wet spot on the paper.

I have seen grocers leave a sponge at their registers so they can dab their fingers on a moist sponge so they can pull out plastic bags as well as paper flyers asking voters to elect Chris Bell with relative ease. This way they don't use their tongue and spread ecol.

Maybe the paper passers in question can clip a mini sponge to their tie or belt to make it less disgusting and more appropriate? Oh and the water will dry eventually, I promise.

LOL

it is because fingers get dry and make it hard to separate the papers in bulk

yeah the wet spot does show on the first few pieces but it always goes away

kinda gross I guess

that is why at the grocery store they have that little container with the ofen pink or clear gel looking substance. It is because the same thing happens to them cause they are dealing with money all day and their fingers dry out.

perpaps the public school system should provide this product to all teacher for their and the pupils use when handing out papers LOL then there would be no more wet spots on the papers

I know this thread is old as Moses but, I have it on my mind and need to vent. I find this habit disgusting and very inconsiderate. It's downright nasty and I want to say something so bad when people do this but, since I'm usually at work I just spray the paper with Lysol and let it dry. I was recently at a Mary Kay Spa Day and the lady was passing out wet paper like things so we could moisten our face. So why did she have to lick her finger to pass out WET paper??? I was grossed out but my sister laughed at me. Just goes to show that some people really do have a nasty habit and they do it out of habit rather than need. Ever heard of Sort Kwik? Get Some!!!

Because the paper is so TASTY!!

No, it's to wet their fingers so the papers will stick to their fingers and seperate from the stack and make it easier to pass out.

The spit makes the paper stick to your finger, so it's easier to get the top sheet off the pile.

I hate that too. One teacher licked the paper about 10 ten times. Just nasty.

As it helps grip the piece of paper and makes it easier to hand out.

It helps separate the papers & helps so your fingers don't slip on the paper

because the papers are stuck together and the saliva makes only one paper stick to your finger whereas without the saliva you end up giving two papers to one person.
