I really want to eat some cookie dough ice cream but I know that you should avoid dairy with a cold. Why? I want a good reason for not eating this delicious Edy's slow churned cookie dough ice cream!

Because milk products produce mucous -- you'll be hacking up phlegm for days.

There are several reasons to avoid dairy products. one is because the antibiotic the Dr has prescribed may by ineffective. another is because milk ice cream ect produce phlem and make it harded to breath and swallow. Get well soon. ps be sure you take all the med even if you are feeling better

You get phlemmy.. thick spit caught in your throat and you feel like coughing a lot and then have to drink a ton of water... it's not the best idea to have ice cream when you're sick... besides... if you have a cold you aren't going to be able to enjoy the taste of the ice cream because you can't taste it, it's just cold.

ice cream is not so bad but some people say its becasue it can curdle in your stomach so you should just use you own judgement as to how you feel. a cold is not so bad as it is if you have a fever with it . because when you have a fever it makes your body temp go up and that is what curdles the milk products.

The proteins in dairy are harder for your stomach to digest because they're longer chains. But yogurt is okay to eat.

Should avoid dairy while on antibiotics...if just a cold..then no problem.

it's thick. you need lots of water and to be well hydrated when sick. any dairy product can give you choking sensations.

you don't eat dairy when you have fever because it can turn in your stomach because of your temp. and make you throw up.
