most churches do take offerings, but it is voluntary, not mandatory.
it helps pay the expenses, and in some not all cases supports the ministers, I have been to several churches that the pastor worked to support his family.

I think it's ok but not to the point that they hoard it and become rich and powerful, OH I forgot that is the point of collecting all that money.
Church teaches how to live good lives, That statement is not at all true, the church teaches how to live according to what they "The Churches" deem what is good, if they would follow Jesus they the Church would not own anything.
Definition Church = the organization of a groups money to form a corporation with the cover of a non profit organization, to tantalize people into giving their money, while the church is well knowing they are using the money to live their dream life, with the sweat of someone else labor. They use some of the money to show you the good works, but what about their fat pocket books, remember I mean the head of the organization

yes I believe it is Biblical for us to support the Church as a whole, but I believe the support for the orphans and widows that the money is intended for has been much forgotten. To much is spent on ridiculous frills for the building and recreation and such, it should all be spent on reaching the lost and helping those in need. What is wrong with a concrete building with good heat and air? Or would that draw the proper crowd? I always thought it was up to the Holy Spirit to do the drawing anyhow.

Christians are not required to pay a tithe, but we do have new testament of free will offerings. 1 Corinthians 16:1,2 Now concerning the collection for the saints, as I have given orders to the churches of Galatia, so you must do also: On the first day of the week let each one of you lay something aside, storing up as he may prosper, that there be no collections when I come. where i attend church, yes it is put to good use.

No I don't think a church should collect money. And by not giving it to a church in no way relegates that money to a strip club or bar. There are other ways to use money than church or strip joints.

Tithing should remind us of God's desire that we be generous,in the lord's eye(mark 12:43-44).Paul says that students should take care of the material needs of their teachers(1corin 9:7-12).a lot of people use the benefits from a good church base and good bible teachings and then take our spiritual leaders for granted, ignoring their financial and overhead cost of their place of worship.the spirit needs a club to boast about what the lord has done for us this week.so,get all one dollar bills and drop them in the basket to show what you are worth. ministry and leaders and followers of our brother,Jesus Christ, who lives inside, will keep the book of life balance of blessings open until the bar opens back up next Sunday!

Yes, because if anyone (who is a believer) is gonna give any money to anyone or anything, it should be given to the BEST cause which is God and his church. After all, He did give us life, for cryin' out loud. It's the least we could do as a token of our appreciation, gratitude, and love.
