If the dog has been neutered, the behavior isn't related to sexuality... it's a "dominance" behavior. He's asserting his authority over the other dogs. The way to stop the behavior is to override his instinct for dominance with your commands. Whenever you see the behavior tell him calmly but firmly, "Down", and pull him away from the other dog. Be consistent; stop the behavior every time you see it. He'll eventually get the idea.

This is usually a dominance thing. Your dog is trying to show his dominance over the other animal. I have a west highland terrier who used to try and "hump" my german shepherd. They worked out the problem themselves and now we never have to deal with it. In the past what I have done with other dogs is give them a quick snap of the leash( if they are on one) with a deep voiced command -"Off". A few snaps and they have quickly learned what the word off means. Dogs will try and do it to people as well- again it is to show dominance. Good luck.

Its a dominance thing, my dog will not and has not tried to hump me- but because he knows I'm the boss. But as soon as someone else is around OR another dog, he is on them like glue. I've have my dog going on 3 years now and fixed or not he hasn't changed. I hope when he gets older he will calm down, but till then good luck- to the both of us ( :

its a fact of nature, i have a 10 week old rottweiler/blue heeler mix that has started humping already, a friend has a 6 year old lab mix that has been neutered and he humps his 7 year old rottweiler sister. go figure. just say no when he starts, your dog should know that command from every other training you have done with him and should understand.

Does'nt matter if he's neutered or not.By 4 mos. a dog starts becoming aware of it's sexuality and is curious just like a child.
You've removed his means of reproducing but he still has it in his head that he's supposed to do this.He just is'nt sure why.
Tell him No in a harsh tone every time you catch him at it.He'll stop the activity once he realizes it's not getting him anywhere.

Mother Nature. Neutered or not. He should be on a leash or in a fenced yard. You must be in control of your dog, at all times. How does he get to other dogs? If they are yours, or friends of yours, Try sprinkling Cayenne pepper on the upper tail ending or backside of the other dog. It won't hurt him, he'll just sneeze a lot.
