My sister and her husband have been unable to conceive and want to have a family more than anything. They would love to adopt a child and are open to infants or older children (even a brother/sister combo) up to 7-8 years old. They are hesitant to foster a child because the heartbreak would be too much if the crack addict mother came back and took the child after they had bonded. They want a clean adoption and don't have the big bucks it takes to go to China or to adopt through a private agency like rich folks do. How can they adopt if they don't have all sorts of money? Please help me find some web sites and other resources for them. Thank you! (They live in Pennsylvania if that makes a difference in your answers.)

I know that there are some other countries where adoption is cheaper, maybe they should take a look at some other country than china... for example Peru or any other south american country. Here is one link that might help them. http://peru.adoption.com/

If they really don't wanna go internationally maybe they should call some adoption center and ask for what they really want. Regarding the "safety" of the adoption they could assist to some seminary which would give them some guidance for the adoption. Anyway, here are some other links that might help

Actually, you should look on google for "domestic adoption in USA" you'll find many websites with phone number and all the stuff you need in order to help your sister... Good Luck!

I think your sister is doing all the right things

You said they are willing to take any older child. I’m pretty sure that a child that is over 4 is considered harder to place. So people who are willing to take an older child I would think increase their chances to get a child sooner.

Adopting a different ethnicity or multiracial child can increase your chances of a short wait.

Willing to take siblings is also a plus.

Your sister should get the yellow book and just browse for an adoption agency this agency should be able to inform her of other possible option such as maybe cheaper international opportunities.

First of all not all people who give their children up for adoption are crack heads.... Second of all how do low income families raise their children. You don't have to be rich to adopt a child go to your local government web site and look up childrens services/childrens aid. Then look for adoptions. Age race income single married straight gay has nothing to do with it. All they need to know is that you are not a criminal have a safe lean place to live and after a bunch of interviews with Childrens services they determine if you are a suitable candidate. I work with a woman who is single and she adopted with no problems.
