After I had my baby I was severely depressed for like a week. If you felt anything like i felt i sympathize with you. Perhaps you need a different med, or just to change the circumstances. You cant stop being a mom but maybe there are some places you can go to for support. Please dont let your depression rake over your life, its harmful for you and your baby. Plus you wanna enjoy your child not be depressed all the time.

I know how you feel. I am going through the same thing. My son is almost 20 months old and I still have postpartum depression. I keep hoping it will go away. I just recently got on some antidepressants. I am on effexor. I have been on it for almost 2 months now and still have a lot of anxiety. I hope you feel better soon. It is hard to have these feelings when you should be happy. Take care of yourself.

I had postpartum depression after I had both of my children. The first time, I didn't know what was happening. Thanks to a very kind and understanding Obgyn, I was refer ed to a therapist and put on antidepressants. I saw him for about two years. With my next child, I was more prepared (if you can be). I went on meds immediately after I gave birth. Again, it took about two years of therapy and meds to feel like myself again. I made a decision that I was not having any more children because of this. Life was HELL after each birth, and I couldn't bond with my children for quite some time. To this day I still feel guilty for that.

Time will heal, so just hang in there. Hospitals actually sponsor support groups for this particular illness. Check around. Above all, take care of yourself.

Check out www.hufa.org - the symptoms link. If you find even more symptoms that you have other than the ones you have already noted, your baby blues may be due to an imbalance in your blood sugar due to the hormonal changes of pregnancy and post pregnancy.

Check out the library for diet books that help to balance your blood sugar. Feel free to e-mail me if you wish.

I would get a Psychiatric Evaluation and talk very strongly about what is going on and the inability of the meds to help. Get help before it's too late! Good Luck!
