relatives and family that call you fat?

why do relatives allways say to people who are trying to loose waight but niver tell other ppl god you have pout on waight have you not when you want to turn round to theam and say look in the mirror you beach wale i have went from 18stone to 14 stone and still my family call me a fat cow when thay have room to talk has it happend to any one else

When you were 18 stone - they called you a fat cow 'cos you were...now you're 14 stone they call you a fat cow 'cos their jealous of your self-control and determination!

I've had that when I was younger. It takes some practice and some tough skin to let those things roll off your back.

Keep in mind the bigger picture - losing weight.... and use it as your ultimate retribution... If you say it out loud though and things don't go as planned, it gives them one more thing they can use. so use it as inward motivation to prove them wrong.

I think the "rank outs" we say to each other cross a line at a certain point and it ends up sounding really mean because you keep wanting to one-up the other one.

In the case of someone that's overweight, it seems like it's neverending. I think sometimes they don't realize how it sounds.

There's also the possibility that you talk about yourself this way and they feel that gives them the freedom to talk that way too. If that's the case, learn to describe yourself in a more positive manner.

If not and they are saying these things on their own, politely tell them that those things are not appreciated and you would like some support once in a while from people that are supposed to love you and encourage you to success.

Fantastic news, very well done on your weight loss.
I know that it must be very hard for you when you are not getting the encouragement you deserve from your family but by the sound of it you have turned it to your advantage, I mean to lose the weight you have.
Family can hurt us the most without even realising that they are doing so.
It is there problem and not yours.
you must be a very strong willed person to get to where you are now keep it up and don't ever let anyone make you feel different.

There are people out here that will accept you for who you are regardless of what you look like. If you feel like you want to lose weight be sure that you are doing it for you and no one else.

There could be many reasons why they call u fat

The fact is that they care what u look like and they want u to be the best u can be

also like the song says - "u always hurt the ones u love......."

Or maybe theyre screwed up and taking out their frustration on u....

On one side of my family all the women seem to be fat, I recently gained a couple of stone due to an under active thyroid and they were all so happy about it, making comments like "see you're going to end up like us - its in your genes" and "we always knew you would be fat one day" I'm still nowhere near as big as they are and now my thyroid is being treated I'm losing the weight, but they don't see that. They still keep saying stuff like "ooh you get bigger every time I see you"

Its definitely jealousy - so take no notice of them!!

Without trying to sound rude, are your family overweight also? Like the above poster said, they may well be jealous of your progress and only ever put you down to make themselves feel better. Just ignore them and keep up the good work! Take care : )

I understand how upset you are, and it is indeed very insensitive of them to be doing that. Talk to them frankly about your feelings, and ask them to be more sensitive for your feelings. Communication is very important in every aspects in life.

If you only sit there and sulk, you will really be getting nowhere. And since they probably don't know how your feel, things can get worse and the relationship between you and your family can be affected.

Just don't be rude though.

relatives and family that call you fat should all be shot and replaced with nicer ppl who care about whats on the inside and not how you look on the outside my opinion there obviosly jealous because your better than them and the only way to make themselves feel better is by putting others down

People including relatives are just that..people. You are the true light for yourself and those around you choose to be who they are. They are speaking in there own negativity and insecurity of themselves. You are not a poster child for others vanity. Embrace yourself and continue on in a positive manner. Love life and those around you and the negativity of others will not effect you.

I agree, why must they do that? My dad and brother call me fat all the time, and everyone says that I am definitely not fat. I don't know whats up with them. Maybe my father just wants a good looking daughter, and my brother's just trying to offend me.
