Would a girl like a gift like that or did I just think it was cool and bought.

Way to think outside the box! i think this would be an awesome present for anyone. You just have to make sure that this is something the girl would like. Obviously if it's a girl who can't stand getting her hair wet or getting herself dirty then this MIGHT not be the best present since she'll probably give that look of "You can't expect me to really do this...".

Did you make sure in advance that swimming w/ a whale was one of her interests? Drop a few hints... like asking what she "thinks about people who swim with whales." Pay close attention to her facial expressions, because if she is anything like me (AND I AM SURE SHE IS NOT!!!), she'd freak out. If she is calm and likes the idea, you'll be able to tell. SO SWEET to consider her for a chance to do something so magnificent. It is the thought that counts. If she doesn't want to do it, then tell her, "Some guy told me that it was the thing to do."
Because I wouldn't want my husband to tell me that some other woman told him what to do for my birthday... lol... I'd throw a fit. Good luck!
