It depends on what diagnosis you enter in and it depends on your age. With minor illness which doesnt affect your daily living, to say with less complications expected, you can come out unnoticed but on the other hand its impossible with major or life threatening illness.

Moreover it depends on the hospital policy you visit, and the National Laws in Department of Health.

With the HIPPA laws, your privacy will be protected, but if you do not want friends, family, etc. finding out, ask the admitting clerk. The hospital I worked for would do that, they would give the person an anonymous name, and only let certain staff know who they really were. They had a TV news anchor giving birth one time and all her fellow anchors were calling the labor floor threatening us to give out the patient names (this was before HIPPA). We all just laughed.

There are laws here in the US to protect your confidentiality. It is called the HIPPA law and you can request that no information be given out about you. Even if someone calls the hospital to see if you are there, whoever they speak with will state that they have nobody by your name if you choose to do this.

Depends which country you are in. In England as long as you are not there for use of illegal substitutes, sexual abuse or domestic violence, you have the right to privacy.
However, if you are under 16 your parents will be informed.

Not really, the hospital will say if you are there, they just cannot say why, unless they say it is your mother or father calling.
