Undoubtedly they can communicate with each other - just not with speech as we know it.

They communicate by "body language," such as posture, ear movements, tail movements, to show dominance or submissiveness, and show various emotions, such as fear, anger, pleasure. They also use barking, whining, howling, for the same purposes. They can recognize symbols in some cases, but otherwise have no vocabulary in the sense that we do, and don't pass on results of abstract thought in a way that would meet the definition of a language.
Cats act similarly, but are not as smart as dogs as to the complexity of their interactions with other cats, or with people.
Dogs have a greater capacity to understand and bond with owners than cats do. This understanding results in a greater bond of trust between dogs and people than between cats and people.
So in many ways, dogs and people speak the same language, while cats and people don't,

Cats are like people. They have their own vocabulary. According to “Cat Chat-Can Cats Talk”, an article. nineteen variations of “miaow” can be set apart by pitch, rhythm, volume, tone, pronunciation and the different scenarios in which a cat will use them. When you look at the pet cat, it develops a vocabulary to acquire a certain result from its owner. For example, a pet cat may use a particular tone to tell its owner it wants food. Many of the house cat’s vocalizations are adapted mother/kitten meow or chirp sounds that are used to speak to non-humans.
This also goes with dogs!

I don't know, have never talked to a dog or cat. LOL Seriously, they communicate in their own way. I don't think they have a "language" they use though....

absolutely they do. when you live with them long enough you can decern the different sounds they make for different emotions or needs. I haven't figured out how to talk there language so i just talk to them like i would anyone else. I've found that soft voices work much better than loud, since i've never appreciated being yelled at i'm sure they don't either. Body language i feel plays a large part in animals behaviour and communication with each other as well as with us too. Enjoy your life with your animals as they will enjoy being with you as well.

I read once that cats communicate with humans through eye gestures. A comforting gesture you can do is look your cat in the eye with a relaxed stare, and slowly open and close your eyes while staring into theirs. It's supposed to be kitty talk - I swear!

I think they definitely communicate with each other. Not sure you'd call it language, but I suppose you could. They understand each other and if you're around them long enough you start to understand them too by their actions and certain sounds - they have a way of letting you know what they want!!

Yes, they do. A lot of it is based off of body language and also situational where they look at the surroundings and what's going on to assess what's happening.

all animals do. dogs and cats have verbal as well as body language that they use to communicate a wide variety of feelings and emotions as well as things we may have not even begun to understand.
And they understand us as well. So maybe they are bilingual.
