Of course you can! i really don't think you will have to worry about any contaminations since korea has very good water sanitation, most of the water you will drink will probably come from a Junsu-gi (water cooler) that come in cold or hot.

almost all junsu-gi's come with a box attached to it with little paper strips inside of them. you might be confused at what these are, but if you take one out, you'll see that they are paper cups! just open the top with your finger and it turns into a poket-like cup.

the tap water is not so bad either. if there are any problems at all, they are probably only mineral deposits from the pipes, same as in america or england. many people cook with the tap water, especially when serving a large host of people.

for the most part don't worry, korea's the 11th leading economical world power nation, they take care of their people and visitors well, it's not like you'll have to carry a bucket from the well every morning or gather rainwater in tubs.

peace out and stay cool

DO NOT I repeat DO NOT drink the water from the tap. When it comes to drinking tap water in Korea, not even the locals do it. Schools ship in huge 20 L bottles of water, houses do too. It is not recommended. It is ok to cook with, cause you are boiling it, but don't drink it. Bottled water is cheap anyways. A 2 L bottle costs about 50 cents. A 20 L bottle costs about $5. although the small bottles you can carry are about 50 cents. But you are paying for the convenience not the water. And this is everywhere in Korea not just Seoul. And for those of you who don't know what Seoul is, it is the capital of South Korea. Get a map out it is in the northern part of the country in the west.

Try not to drink the tap water anywhere in Korea. It is a common belief here that if you boil water with barley that it will absorb all of the toxins in the water... but in reality all it does is mask the taste. There have been a few scary examples of stuff getting into the supply chain, so its not worth the risk (mercury in bean sprouts being one example). Take any assurances from Koreans that the water is safe to drink with a grain of salt (google for 'fan death korea' and you will see why, a majority of the population here simply accepts what they are told by companies/TV as being the whole truth). That said, of course a little bit wont kill you, and you cant get away from drinking it in restaurants, but dont rely on it as your main source of water. Also im a little dubious about drinking moutain spring water in a city as polluted as seoul (theres only so much natural filtering that can be done to acid rain), i lived off moutain water at my house for a few months and had severe skin itching that went away when i switched back to bottled.
I'd be interested to see some tests of mountain water, ive never heard nor seen any in 4 years of living in korea.

Well, im not sure why I don't drink water out of the tap... but we get our water straight off of the mountain. The mountain being in Seoul. The water is checked very often, and tastes pretty good.

I have seen people drinking water straight from our tap, and as far as I am aware they havent yet died from it.

They have taps in central places to fill water bottles. I avoided the water in my apartment for a long time, but company often drank from there with no ill effects. Its probably the same as any major city...crappy chlorine taste. (actually visited a filtration site there. Very state of the art) You'll be ok.

Don't drink the water in Seoul.
You can get away with a little bit and I always used it to make ice. It's also ok to brush your teeth with it. I will NOT go and chuck it down by the gallon.
PS. You can get 5 gallon bottles delivered to your house for about US$5.

I hope so. I am going there in November. Just remember....even if you can't, your body is a organ and will absorb the water the same as if you were drinking it. If it was that bad, you couldn't even take a shower.
