Sorry hun but the facts are this - there is no SURE WAY to set yourself off in labour. There are lots of things you can try but there is nothing that is guranteed to work. Babies come when THEY want to not when YOU want them to. Saying that i remember how annoying it was being that heavily pergnant and you cant wait to have it over and done with. The traditional ways to attempt to set off labour are:
1. spicy food
2. sex - or more to the point an orgasm as it is the muscles contratcing which can set off the labour so no offence to your partner but the best way is probably to get a battery operated friend to do the job on your clit.
3. Anything energetic - i remember jumping up and down like a loonatic towards the end and doing aerobics and i went into labour at 38 weeks. I know when my mother was pregnant with my brother my dad was taking her for a drive in the car down an extremely bumpy road all the time.
Lastly congratulations and whenever it does actually happen enjoy every second of it its the most magical experience in the world.

I had castor oil with cranberry juice when i was 37 weeks with my 3rd child as i could not cope any more with the pain and a box of chocolated to get rid of the taste an hour later my waters started to break on the 4th hour my waters went and 5 1/2 hours from taking it i had my beautiful 8lbs 9 oz daughter in my arms. But sex is also good to kick start you off as this worked with my 1st child good luck
And if these fail then your baby will come when he/she is ready and there is not a real lot you can do x

Babies come when there ready I'm afraid to say. But to help try you could do a few things relaxing for one because the stronger you and your body feels the more relaxed your uterus and cervix will become. As you have already had suggested lots sex is a good way to help move things along but you do need to reach climax and orgasm for this to help when you reach climax the brain shuts down and hormones serge through the body helping you to contract. As suggested by many a midwife the best way to give birth is squatting standing or knelling as this helps the baby through the birth canal. well guess what same for sex. having sex standing is difficult at the best of times never mind with a bump so be creative and have fun experiment as sex can be more fun during pregnancy due to increased hormone levels. Stay clear of curries all they do is give you well you know.
So take care, relax and enjoy trying to induce the baby.
P.S according to my mother-in-law to be having a bigger baby can be easier as they help themselves out during labour.
xx

Have a bath in Clary sage oil, eat a curry, drink a cup of raspberry leaf tea and have loads and loads of sex!!!
My wifes midwife suggested all of these ideas and even went as far as saying that after having unprotected sex, lie with your legs up the wall to allow the semen to hit the cervix as there is a chemical in semen that can bring about labour!
If you do all of this and dont go into labour then god help you!!!!!

As long as you have not lost your mucus plug and/or your water has broken try having sex....Use the spooning position...
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spoons_sex_position
Make sure to include clitoral and breast stimulation the goal is for you the woman to reach orgasmn... A womans orgasm is similar to a mini contraction as all the same muscles are involved it can jump start labor...
Walk 200 steps then do 2-3 deep knee bends and another 200 steps 2-3 deep knee bends... only 1 or so miles at a time you don't want to muscle cramps...
If it doesn't speed up the onset of labor all the sex is fun and exercise is good for everyone...

You could try fresh pineapple or raspberry leaf tea. You could also try stimulating your nipples (maybe you'd like to get your man to do this!), or, as others have said, a walk (not too far from home!) or curries or sex.
But, I'm afraid to tell you that your baby will come out when he/she is ready. Take the opportunity to rest and build your strength up for the forthcoming birth - get lots of sleep, as you'll need it when the new arrival gets here - and make sure you have everything in place to take to the hospital and in your nursery.
The very best of luck!

HI there,
Sex is really good and another way is if you intend to breast feed you can start pumping now and will help you go into labor, that's what my doctor said.
I think you should really be careful with other things like eating certain things cause you don't know if it will be harmful to you and your baba!
Always ask your doctor first cause I don't want you to do anything that will stress your body and baby out, but I really hope this helps.
I remember when I was pregnant I was so needing sex so if you are in the same shoes as I was then your will enjoy it a lot. :)

Let it happen naturally, don't hurt the wee babe. Walking (not too fast) helps, going up & down stairs, warm baths (not hot), castor oil (awful), washing the kitchen floor (on hands & knees), housework, and yes sex (not rough) thats what got my labour going! My husbands grandma said that eating spicy chili got her farting & labour started (sorry Phylis!). Hope this all helps & congratulatios on being a mom to be! It's tough, but your love for your baby makes it all worth while.

castor oil is no longer available because it brought on strong contractions.i used it myself.
i know you are uncomfortable but baby will come when he/she is ready and not before in normal pregnancies.
sex is advised as the semen softens the neck of the womb.
doctors only worry if you go over 40 weeks as the placenta stops working properly. i was two weeks over due so the doctor started my labour off.
it is just a waiting game really.
good luck

When my wife was pregnant, she went a week over, and some guy in the pub told her to try fresh orange juice and castor oil.
This she did, and started within 4 hours.
Just 1 large desertspoonful. Worked a treat.
