God is pouring His Spirit on His Children right now. The Holy Spirit is alive & well.
Yes there are some cases of satan's copycat versions of God's gift of tongues.
A person also need the gift of spiritual discernment. It is easily discerned.
Why are people speaking in tongues?
If it is a witch in a healing ceremony speaking in demon language. The witch may not remember a bit of it. When a person is demon possessed, the person doesn't usually remember the episode. Also, it feels awful.
When a Christian is in a Christian Church and praising God out of love for God, & the unknown language overtakes the Christian & they praise God in a different language, that is the gift from God. And it feels wonderful, and one remembers it.
When love is the root, it is from God.

At Pentecost, was it a miracle of "speaking in tongues" or was it a miracle of "hearing"? It does say that "they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance." This may have been in their worship and praise of God.
However, many scholars believe the disciples spoke in the common language of Jerusalem. "there were dwelling at Jerusalem Jews, devout men, out of every nation under heaven. Now when this was noised abroad, the multitude came together, and were confounded, because that every man heard them speak in his own language. "And they were all amazed and marvelled, saying one to another, Behold, are not all these which speak Galilaeans? And how hear we every man in our own tongue, wherein we were born? Parthians, and Medes, and Elamites, and the dwellers in Mesopotamia, and in Judaea, and Cappadocia, in Pontus, and Asia, Phrygia, and Pamphylia, in Egypt, and in the parts of Libya about Cyrene, and strangers of Rome, Jews and proselytes, Cretes and Arabians, we do hear them speak in our tongues the wonderful works of God. And they were all amazed, and were in doubt, saying one to another, What meaneth this?"
Even if it was a God-given gift of tongues" and even if it was for "a limited time", it might also be argued that it was for the "first days" and the "last days".
I think it quite probable that it might be genuine now, for some in certain situations ... but also remember that Satan has counterfeits for many of God's gifts ... and it seems he will increase with them as his time appears to be short.

It depends on how it happens. There is supposed to be only one person speaking in tongues and there is supposed to be an interpreter for it to be of God.

Neither... it is from self-delusion and hysteria.
Christians seem to think that 'Speaking in Tongues' means babbling incoherently. It is actually a kind of induced hysteria.
In the bible, the 'gift of tongues' meant that anyone could understand your speech, no matter what language they spoke. For example, someone who had the 'gift of tongues' could be speaking to a crowd in Greek, and people who DID NOT UNDERSTAND Greek would hear and understand the speaker as if he were speaking in their own language... just like the 'babblefish' in Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy.
Of course, just like the 'babblefish', this is pure horseshit. It was horseshit in biblical times... it is horseshit now.

Nope.
Speaking in tongues is a fraud. If it were real, it would be an actual language. It isn't. Every recorded case is simply ulu-lalia. That is, disjointed vowells and consonants strung together.
Like everything else in christianity, speaking in tongues is pious fraud.

You shouldn't make statements about something you have no knowledge on. I have spoken in tongues, and I know, without a doubt it was God.

Neither. It's just a bunch of jibberish which comes from the person "speaking".
