No, theres no such a thing as a black West Highland Terrier. You are probaby talking about a Scottie. It looks similiar to a West Highland terrier apart from it's black.

A West Higland Terrier is White. A Scottish Terrier is black.

Nope..hence the name West Highland WHITE Terrier.
Scottish Terriers are black and look somewhat similar to a Westie , but they are 2 different breeds.

The West Highland only comes in white. The black dog you are thinking about is the Scottish Terrier, which is a completly different breed. The Scottie has a long, almost rectangular head, while the Westie has a much shorter face, and the hair is clipped to give the head and almost round shape.

Usually, that's too long for me. I consider it depends on the guy as well as his face though. Certain guys can easily pull off long hair and other folks can't.
