You con NOT TELL if there is water on the brain of a 12 week old! Their brains are not fully formed!

water on the brain or "hydrocephalus" does not automatically mean brain damage. Depending on the severity a shunt can be placed to help drain the fluid away from the brain to the abdomen where it can be absorbed and excreted. Talk to your doctor and discuss the possibilities. I would never tell someone they should or shouldn't have an abortion. That part is totally up to you and your significant other. You should however make sure you have all the facts possible before you make that decision. Just so you know, I had an ultrasound at 12 weeks and was told that my baby had hydrocephalus. They repeated the ultrasound at 15 weeks and again at 18 weeks at which point I was told that the fluid had been completely reabsorbed. My baby also had CT scans at 2 weeks old, 6 weeks old and 3 months old. They found nothing and I have a smart, vibrant, and funny 3 year old. Abortion was not my choice and I've been blessed. Know all your facts and options before you decide. Faith goes a long way too.

if the DR. says there is no or very little chance of the child "normal life " I would do the abortion. it is not the child's fault that is true, but it is not a matter of whose fault it is you have to take into consideration what the child's life will be like. i am not even going to ask how you would feel about the child it is your child and you love it very much but can you afford to raise a "special needs" child it is very expensive not only in the way of medicine and Dr's but also one parent will most likely need to stay home and care for the child all the time leaving a one Pearson income you need to think about that as well. it is not an easy decision to make but do what you feel is best and DO NOT let what others say or think get to you this world is full of hypocrites that in truth really have no idea what you are going through nore what they would really do if faced with the same decision.
good luck

Have you ever seen a person with brain damage? Child or adult? The question is, whether you would want your child to live like that.

I believe a mother has the right to make that choice. If you do choose an AB, do it quick, not a late-stage AB.

I would imagine your doctor knows the best answer to this. Hydrocephalus (water on the brain) can be drained/a shunt placed in to drain. I am not a doctor so I dont know any specifics. Good luck !
