try eating a banana before you run... you could be cramping because your body doesn't have enough potassium... or if you're eating a large meal RIGHT before you run don't.... your body is trying to digest your food so you'll cramp.

How much water are you drinking before and during exercise? This is usually the cause of side cramps or a 'stitch' as we call them in Oz (don't ask me why!). You shouldn't eat before you exercise and try not to drink too much water either. If you have to drink water during exercise, try to limit yourself to one mouthful every now and then. If you get a cramp, stop, raise your arms above your head and take slow deep breaths until it begins to pass.
Also, when you're running, try to control your breathing, and this should help too. The first few minutes of exercise are always the hardest, as your body is adjusting.

Be aware of how you're breathing. I get side cramps when I'm pushing myself too hard and start to breathe heavily through my mouth. Once I slow my breathing down and get to a more comfortable pace, the cramping miraculously stops.

I really do not know if this will work, but you might try some tonic water. It has a small amount of Quinine in it, which does cut the cramps in legs very well. How far are you running, anyway?

Try not to eat before exercising. But if you are still getting cramps, stretch it out. Hope it helps.

well firstly you cant eat just before running. But if you get them anyway you have to put your hands on your head for awhile and run (it sound stupid but it works) You can also try arching you back a little when you get them.
