Ego, Ego, Ego. Pump his maleness, in all the traditional ways. Fluff the peacock, and he will flutter!

Seriously - talk to him, smile at him and look into his eyes when you do. Touch his arm, laugh when he says something even remotely funny, and fish for compliments from him. Ask how he likes your hair, etc.

Eventually he'll come out of his shell because you make him feel good, and comfortable.

Please be careful. If you use what I've told you here to hurt him, it'll be a long time before he trusts you again.

Sex- works for most guys. Nothing breaks the old ice barrier like a little humpty-bump. Think of it as a way of encouraging his inner expression, but if he is still shy afterwards it means he is gay.

You help him. Slowly help build his confidence through reassurance, acceptance, encouragement. Ask his friends to help to.

A simple "Thanks", "That's great" in what he is doing will go a long way. But it takes patience.

It is either that or you join his environment. He don't break out but you break in.
