Do they really read your letters out loud or before they give them to the recruits? Is there a really "Hog Board"?

Only because most Marines have a hard time reading.

Your letters are not read aloud without your permission, they do have ways of coaxing you into that though. As the the hog board, we didn't call it that, we called it a mot board (motivational) Thats were everyone stuck up their pictures of their girlfriends or some even put up pictures of thier moms if they were hot.

I don't know what a hog board is but they do not read your letters out loud.

I went through boot camp, USMC, and they never read out our letters. That is a myth.

Use care in what photos you include. One guy;'s wife sent a photo of herself buck-naked and he was disciplined. The rest of the recruits didn't get to see it, but the drill instructors all had a good laugh. I'd suggest NO PHOTOS.

They did that to us when someone was writing/reading during the wrong time. There were certain times that you were allowed too and not too mess with mail. Some had letters read out to all becuase of that.

its all voluntary and depends on the ppl, we had a "dear john"/*explicit* words board board at most of the military schools i have been to
