I have a 10 year old border collie and he does not shed excessively. I have him professionally groomed about every 10 weeks or so, I wish I could say yes I brush him a couple of times a week, but, I don't, he really doesn't need it. I have his feathers, feet and tush trimmed at grooming and I have no real problems with his hair Honestly, if I let his grooming go, lets say to 4 months I will find clumps of hair on his bed, other than that, my longhaired cat sheds more than he does.

I love the breed, smartest dog you ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

PS-if you have never had the breed I would recommend that you research it well, as they are very HIGH energy dogs that require a job, and if they don't have one, they are not happy doggies. Please talk to other Border Collie owners or breeders before acquiring this breed, as several end up in Border Collie Rescue, because the owner was not prepared for their energy, enthusiasm and activity level, they are not a couch potatoe dog by any means. Good Luck to you.

There are only a few breeds of dogs that DON'T shed. Border collies don't shed as much as regular collies because they don't have as long of hair but they will shed if you don't keep them brushed just like any dog will shed.

Most long-haired pets wont shed if you frequently brush them and get the excess hair off them.

If they are groomed regularly and thoroughly once a week, they won't shed any more than any other breed.

Yes they do. My aunt had one years ago, and occasionally I still find the hair flying about her house.
