Why are our morals going down the drain?

Everything everywhere is aimed at sex, fake people, fake looks, everybody is so wiiling to just take the "easy way" no matter what!

Amendment 1 of The United States Constitution tells us that we have the right to free speech. It also tells us that “no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting free exercise thereof, or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press, or of the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.”
In our public schools The Pledge Of Allegiance is not used anymore because it contains the word GOD. Our children are taught Darwin’s theory, but cannot pray in school. How can we as Americans “One Nation Under God” not keep our values, and allow this to happen?

Thats the generation of this world. No one a centruy ago would think that the wordl would tunr out this way Everything has been very evil or towards murder, stealing, sex, drugs, and rape and more. No one cares about manners anymore also. This generation is so bad adn i am so sure that the ppl of a century or two owuold be ashamed. People care too much about their looks: big boobs and big lips, big butts, skinny stomach. Its bcuz the society has made ppl think that they need to act bad or act gangster or do thsi or that, look this or that and they wil feel better. Than being nice or respecting ppl who are older than u. In my culture,(Haitian) we learnt o espect our elders. Im only 16 and i make sure not to tlak back or anything even to grown-ups i don't know. I am constantly made fun of for alwasy saying sorry even if i wasn't eh one that bumped the person. Or saying thank u and sorry automatically. I am so used to saying those thing that i automatically say thank u or say sorry or say excuse me eevrytime i need to. But the good dting is that some ppl noticed and that i was actully commented on how mature i am or how repsectful i am. But eyah i wish the wordl was better.

Because the world has become so big and we have all reached a certain level of anonymity. When people lived in small towns/villages and they knew everyone, they were less inclined to cause harm/be rude/have affairs/flash the finger/etc. But, now people feel that if they give the finger to someone in traffic, chances are that they will never see that person again. No one has to own up to their actions. People say/do whatever they want on the internet because they know they are anonymous!!!

Because the decline of healthy families who nurture healthy children.
More single or two working parent families and children left to fend for
themselves both physically and emotionally. Morals and values go hand
in hand. Also, lousy role models that portray the wrong messages to
impressionable children who grow up to be adults with fewer solid
morals and an "every man for himself attitude"

You are right. Our kids are exposed to more violence, sex, drugs, etc...than ever before thanks to TV and movies with little or no moral values. The commercials you see that have a bikini clad babe running down the beach with her implants bouncing gets the attention of males both young and old. So much attention is placed on looking younger, having bigger breasts, penile enlargements! What gives? Even kids movies are going down the drain.......the movie Shrek contains a line, "I gotta save my ***" (referring to the donkey). That's not appropriate for young children so why have it?

Families spend little or no time having dinner together, they spend little time praying and reading the Bible, most kids are latch-key kids because both parents have to work, kids are way over scheduled because of sports. The family unit is falling apart. This is where the problem lies.

June and Ward Cleaver never had these kinds of problems with Wally and the Beaver!! :)

Here is my favorite excuse, someone asks why morals are going down the tube, then someone else replys that it is because we take god and religion out of our lives. Then there is an even bigger chorus that agrees that the reason society is failing is because of the lack of god.
Then, the real truth, someone with an ounce of intelligence gets to looking, and the x-tians claim that christianity is bigger than ever, they claim it is growing stronger than before, and that "his" glory is everywhere. So, why do religious people claim that society is dieng because we don't beliueve in their superstitious god, then claim his power is greater than ever. If he truly was great and powerful, then he would be rewarding them and taking care of them. You know, curing cancer and other diseases like he promised. Revealing himself to them, again, like HE promised. What a cheap fake...

Why ARE your morals going down the drain? Is this a recent phenomenon, or have you felt this for a while? Perhaps you can ask your parents and friends if they have noticed the decay of your morals.

Sex isnt evil! How evil it is to say such a strong natural impulse is a sin. This is just part of totalitarian mind control that priests want. Well, I resist their brainwashing. If any priest tries to tell me my lover and I need his approval to have sex, I'll toss him through the door. Your way is too hard, so you imagine that anyone who disagrees with your naive beliefs is taking an easy way. Life can be hard enough without making it harder for no reason as you do. Why not take an easy way if the hard one makes no sense? You are just drivng yourself nuts with your dumb beliefs, but I don't allow you to drive me nuts too.

It's part of the reson everything is so black and white. If thing's wheren't so black and white people would have an easier time sorting out morals.

And Casey (below): I am an Agnostic. Have I, therefore, no morals? Does it really take the threat of Hell to prevent you from killing someone? Sounds like you must be a pretty messed up person if you require threats to avoid hurting others...
